Maurice Ojuok
betting editor, Kenya · Nairobi
Maurice Ojuok has been placing bets from Nairobi for eight years, long enough to remember when a deposit meant an SMS and a two minute wait. He covers the parts of a bookmaker that decide whether the account is worth keeping: paybill numbers that actually work, how long a withdrawal really takes on M-Pesa, and what verification asks for. Every figure on this site is checked against the operator's own pages, and where the operator publishes nothing, the page says nothing.
How the figures are checked
Every figure starts from the operator's own pages: the cashier screen, the terms, the help centre, with the date it was read. Licence status is checked against the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Kenya, the body that took over from the Betting Control and Licensing Board under the Gambling Control Act 2025. Tax on stakes and on winnings is checked against the Kenya Revenue Authority. Payment limits and cash-out times are checked against the published Safaricom M-Pesa and Airtel Money pages. Where two sources disagree, the page quotes what the operator publishes and gives the date. Where the operator publishes nothing, the page says nothing.
